Food and Beverage Service Level 3 Diploma

Aim for a supervisory or management position in the hospitality and catering industry with this level 3 diploma. The course combines practical work with theory so that you develop your skills in supervising staffing and job allocation in a restaurant environment.

On this course you will learn how to:
• maintain health, hygiene, safety and security in the working environment
• contribute to the control of resources
• establish and develop positive working relationships
• supervise the work of staff
• maintain the food service
• supervise a function
• maintain the drink service
• manage your own time and responsibilities

You also have the opportunity to study the CIEH Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering. It’s a three-day intensive course for people who work at a supervisory level.

Assessment of your practical skills is continuous and we test your theoretical knowledge too. Your tutor monitors your progress and offers advice and guidance so you achieve the most from your study.
You develop supervisory, organisational, time-management and people skills and you learn how to work under pressure - essential for this fast-paced industry. On successful completion you will gain the level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Leadership and Supervision.
5 or more GCSEs grades A*-C including English and maths
Or
BTEC level 2 Diploma grade Merit or Distinction plus GCSE grade C or above or Functional Skills at level 2 in English and maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
Successful achievement can lead to supervisory and management positions in the hotel and catering industry.
You learn by taking an active role in the day-to-day running of our restaurant, bar and functions and you attend theory sessions too.

The fee for international students for the 2016 entrance is £6,300 per year.

In just over three years, Oliver Shore has gone from dreaming of a career in cookery to working full-time as a chef and even serving a meal for Sir Richard Branson.

Oliver first came across cooking as a potential career when he studied food tech at school. He enjoyed it so much he thought it would be a great career to pursue at college.

The proximity of Banbury and Bicester College and the quality of the courses on offer were attractive to Oliver, so he registered to attend one of our Open Events. This was a great opportunity for Oliver to find out more about the Level 3 Professional Chef’s Diploma, the hospitality and catering facilities and staff - something he clearly enjoyed: “Seeing the kitchens and becoming more aware of what I could learn was great.
