Activate Learning’s hospitality and catering programmes have been recognised among the best in the sector, with an industry award shortlisting.
The group’s Lifestyles faculty has been shortlisted for a PACE award in the ‘Innovation within a Study Programme’ category.
The award shortlisting relates to the group’s study programmes at Banbury and Bicester College, City of Oxford College and Reading College. It recognises how these programmes are preparing learners for employment, by offering experiences of work including guest chef masterclasses, industry visits, competitions and involvement in community and corporate events. In the last year this has included providing the catering at the Pride of Reading and Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards, masterclasses in chocolate work and lobster preparation and visits to Billingsgate Fish market to meet traders, sellers and chefs.
PACE (Professional Association for Catering Education) is the representative body for the hospitality and catering education and training sector in England, and its annual awards recognise innovation, excellence and dedication.
The ‘Innovation within a Study Programme’ award recognises innovative examples of learning and teaching practices, which engage and inspire students and expand skills and knowledge to ensure they are industry ready.
The overall award winners will be announced on Wednesday 3 May.
