Support Rita’s Strictly Banbury experience

Banbury and Bicester College hairdressing teacher, Rita Cronin, is getting ready to take part in this year’s ‘Strictly Banbury’ competition.

The event, now in its eighth year, will be held at The Mill Art Centre in Banbury in May. The competition pitches 20 amateur dancers against each other over two days in aid of raising money for charity.

The two charities chosen for this year are Dogs for Good and Oxford Children's Hospital.

Rita said: “I will be representing Banbury and Bicester College and Banbury Harriers Athletics club in an attempt to raise as much as possible for the two wonderful charities chosen for this year’s event.

“Those who know me know I do not watch Strictly and I get out of breath walking up a set of stairs. You will also know I love a challenge and this certainly will be one of the greatest challenges I have ever embarked upon.

“You will also know I like to set an example for those around me particularly my children, the students at Banbury and Bicester College and the athletes at Harriers Athletics. My hope here is to demonstrate that nothing is impossible if you push yourself and get outside of your comfort zone.”

The event has been well supported by college staff in the past, with Jane Owens taking part in 2016 and winning the first evening’s competition.  Plus former head of campus Rose Turner has taken part too.
