Technology Faculty Manager gains industry insights

Dion Van Overdijk won a place on Project ENTHUSE, a funding partnership which provides continuing professional development for teachers of STEM subjects.

Dion spent two weeks at world leading IBM and was fully immersed into the company’s culture and a number of projects. IBM are currently looking at ways to improve the power grid and Dion was able to join IBM employees on a visit to Hursley Park with 15,000 engineers who are working on emerging technologies.

Dion said: “My time at IBM was incredibly valuable, it was fantastic to spend time within the industry to engage with the culture of a top employer and to see first-hand what is expected of their employees. I gained so much vital information that I am able to pass on to the Technology Faculty’s students such as the amount of free resources that are available to assist with their learning, information about emerging technologies and the attitude that is required to succeed in this industry. I am looking forward to sharing this with the students.”
